INL National University Consortium – Annual Report 26 Three Bison 5 RAVEN 1 MAMMOTH One MARMOT Four RELAP5-3D RAVEN (Risk Analysis Virtual Environment) is one of the many INL-developed software tools researchers can use to identify and increase the safety margin in nuclear reactor systems. Bison is a finite element-based nuclear fuel performance code with applications for a variety of fuel forms including light water reactor fuel rods, TRISO particle fuel, and metallic rod and plate fuel MARMOT is used to predict the coevolution of microstructure and material properties of nuclear fuels and claddings due to stress, temperature, and irradiation damage. MAMMOTH is a general reactor physics application that leverages existing applications to solve complex multi-physics problems. RELAP5-3D is the latest in the RELAP5 code series developed for the analysis of transients and accidents in water–cooled nuclear power plants as well as the analysis of advanced reactor designs. Licensed Technology In support of U.S. industrial competitiveness, INL works to bring INL’s discoveries and inventions to the public. Many institutions, including our NUC universities, license technology developed at INL, including the five listed below.
