TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER Annual Report 18 Licensing Highlights In Fiscal Year 2018, INL’s department of Technology Deployment modified or entered new licensing agreements with 90 partners. At the end of the fiscal year, INL had more than 300 active licenses on technologies with patents, copyright assertions or open source software rights held by INL researchers. Licensees include domestic and foreign businesses, universities, laboratories, governments and other industry partners. Advanced Electrolyte Model (AEM) INL entered three license agreements for version 2.0 of the R&D 100 Award winning Advanced Electrolyte Model software modeling platform. This platform will allow battery technology researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and a major automotive manufacturer to access AEM for the research and deployment of advanced batteries. Autonomic Intelligent Cyber Sensor The Autonomic Intelligent Cyber Sensor (AICS) provides cybersecurity and industrial network state awareness for Ethernet- based control network implementations. In 2018, INL entered into two license agreements with industry for this technology. ENGlobal Corporation will test AICS to perform analysis of operational technology systems supporting Critical Infrastructure Protection, focusing on the water and energy sectors. Trust Automation, Inc., will use AICS to provide Industrial Control Systems cybersecurity solutions in conjunction with three complementary programs licensed from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
