An additional license was executed with WindSim Americas, which is participating in a Technology Commercialization Fund-sponsored CRADA with INL. In September 2018, licensee WindSim opened an Idaho Falls office to allow for better collaboration with INL researchers. A license for GLASS was also executed with Idaho Power Company. Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Brown Grease from Wastewater Treatment Plants to Biodiesel using Supercritical Fluids CF Technologies, Inc. executed a license to design a system for biodiesel production based on the R&D 100 Award winning Supercritical Solid Catalyst technology developed at INL. CF Technologies recently was awarded a Phase 2 STTR grant by the Department of Energy to conduct this work in cooperation with researchers at INL. Upon successful completion of the Phase 2 project, CF Technologies will be in a strong position to commercialize the technology under commercial license agreement. CellRAD CellRAD is a technique to detect and classify gamma ray energy levels into three energy bins using portable electronic imaging devices. Image Insight, Inc. has licensed this technology to incorporate the method into its GammaPix radiation detection systems. Image Insight also has a network of cellphones deployed with the New York Police Department, which may use the gamma discrimination technique to rule out false alarms from individuals who are “hot” due to the uptake of nuclear medicine. Robotic Intelligence Kernel W8Less, LLC has executed an exclusive license to the Copyright and Patent portfolio for the INL-developed “Robotic Intelligence Kernel” (RIK) technology. The RIK is a portable, reconfigurable suite of perceptual, behavioral and cognitive capabilities that can be used across many different platforms, environments and tasks. W8Less plans to deploy RIK in transportation, smart lighting and commercial 5G applications. New licensing activities during FY 2013-2018 Licenses executed in FY 2018
