b'Joint AppointmentsINLs Joint Appointment Program showed growth in 2019, with 35 active joint appointees and 23 blanket master agreements (BMAs). Joint appointees help to strengthen existing university relationships and establish new collaborations in strategic areas related to INLs mission. Notable BMAs include one to support new cybersecurity efforts at University of Texas-San Antonio, one of the nations premier cybersecurity universities, and another with University of Alaska-Fairbanks related to microreactor research. Former Heath Postdoc Now MIT Joint AppointeeINL is the only DOE laboratory to date that has a reciprocal joint appointment blanket master agreement with Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Cheng Sun, INLs first Russell L. Heath Distinguished Postdoc, has a JA with MIT to support nuclear fuels additive manufacturing, data-driven nuclear materials development and small-scale mechanical testing approaches for nuclear fuels. He also will be teaching a specialized course in Radiation Damage Effects in Nuclear Materials, as well as collaborating on a Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research/Nuclear Science User Facilities (CINR/NSUF) project titled Nano-dispersion strengthened metallic composites with enhanced neutron irradiation tolerance.19 |University Partnerships'
